Straight off the self-titled EP, Couch Surf gives us the track “Is This Real?”
When the front man, singer and songwriter Taylor Barnes lost his close friend Glen Harbor, this triggered a set of emotions that ended up in a new musical direction, new sound and a way to cope with the loss of his friend. With songs like “Glen's Suicide Song” we (the listeners) get to join the journey and the way Barnes deals with a tragic incident like this.
The sound is retro, it’s pop, it’s rock, it’s grunge and it’s even a bit psychedelic. The result is unique and interesting. The production takes me back to the late 80’s / Early 90’s and still it’s a touch of today as well. The way the song is written and performed is so passionate and real that it’s hard not to get emotional listening to it.
Couch Surf is without a doubt a fresh breath of air in our day and age and proves that even if it can be hard to listen to sometimes, their music is probably the most important music to listen to.
Thank you for the music!
