In February Winnipeg’s own Russel Lee released the album “Meant To Be” and we took a closer look at the track “I Don’t Know “Why” from the album.
The sound is pop-country with an amazing sense of catchy melodies and memorable lyrics. “I Don’t Know Why” is no exception and the chorus on this one is probably one of the most addictive choruses in the genre in ages. After listening to the track for a few days, I can’t seem to get enough of the song. That alone is a huge compliment. To write and perform a song that people don’t get tired of after a few days, well… that’s just plain and simple impressive.
These days Glen Campbell’s album “Galveston” celebrates 50 years and I am happy to see that there is still artists out there who can deliver an album on the same level as Glen Campbell did. There is no doubt in my mind that “Meant To Be” will stand the test of time and with songs like “I Don’t Know Why” Russell Lee proves that he is an artist we should make notice of right away. This is old school meets todays Country music in a perfect harmony that I don’t think I have ever heard before.
